DONATION OF MATERIAL
Athletics equipment is one of the main difficulties Ethiopian athletes encounter in carrying out their activity. The material usually has a high price, much more even if we compare it with the average purchasing power of athletes. For this reason, it is a totally normal situation to see sneakers with holes or with totally worn soles, reclining shirts or running tights given of themselves. Athletes always try to maximize the life of the material, even though it may be detrimental to their health due to the high risk of injury.
Another type of material is simply impossible to find in the African country. Athletes try to buy it when they go out to compete abroad or try to get other athletes who travel to bring it, even so, the price is often an impediment again. Some examples, according to what the athletes themselves let us know, can be sports watches or heart rate monitors, compression socks or stockings, training salts, energy bars, sleeves or thermal clothing, and a long list of many other things that are totally daily in the routine of any athlete in Spain.
To solve this problem, from Sponsor an Athlete, our idea is to bring these athletes material in better condition than they have, as well as try to supply those things that could not be easily obtained. The donated material is collected in Spain, and to get it to Ethiopia we use the suitcases of the volunteers and project participants on their various trips to the African country.
It is important to remember that although not all the material we collect is new, it must be in good condition. The goal is to improve the condition of the equipment used by athletes.
